Two “period” pieces – 1920s & 1930s – Day 18, Art Every Day Month

I am experimenting with a series of 20th century period pictures. Today I did this picture of a 1920s woman on illustration board with Faber-Castell Pitt art markers and Prismacolor markers. I did a little research on 1920s dresses, hats, and street lamps, and realized I really need to brush up on my art deco! So much possibility there for incorporating designs and colors into illustrations! I love the style.

Scene from about 1927

I drew this scene from the 1930s about three weeks ago. I share it here for comparison, and to begin to gather my series…..

A rainy day somewhere in 1933

These pictures are my Contribution to the Art Every Day Challenge sponsored by Leah Piken Kolidas at http://creativeeveryday.com. This event has been so much fun and I have thoroughly enjoyed browsing the delightful art of its many talented participants. I encourage you to click the link and check it out!
