Yesterday I posted this picture in an earlier stage. It still needs refinement, but it is getting there. This was supposed to be one of my simple pictures that somehow got a little more complicated than I expected.

The dog is based on my dog, Cocoa, as are many of the dogs that appear in my pictures. As I was drawing the girl reading  and thinking about what to put in the room, I saw my dog sitting at there next to my desk, as she always does. She is my companion whether I’m reading, drawing, writing, or doing my morning exercises. I saw a dog-shaped space in drawing and drew her in! The pose is very like the one Cocoa was in with her back right paw peeking out from under her belly.
